The program is meticulously designed to last no longer than 18 months, during which interns will engage in numerous activities that prepare them for the realities of the finance world, ensuring they can apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings.

Who Can Apply?

  • Educational Background: Must have completed at least Grade 12 (NQF Level 4). A relevant tertiary qualification at NQF Level 6 (completed or in progress) is preferred.
  • Residency Requirement: Applicants must be residents of the City of Johannesburg.
  • Internship History: Candidates should not have previously participated in any other internship programs to qualify for this one.

Roles and Responsibilities

Selected interns will contribute to the Group Finance Department’s Revenue Shared Services Centre (RSSC) across various roles:

  • Revenue Call Centre Operations
  • Customer Services Management
  • Billing and Credit Control

Intern duties will encompass:

  • Managing customer inquiries via phone and email with professionalism.
  • Resolving account discrepancies and financial queries efficiently.
  • Liaising with different departments to escalate unresolved issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records of customer interactions.
  • Working collaboratively across teams to support the City’s financial management.

Stipend Information

Interns will receive compensation based on their educational qualifications:

  • For Graduates (360 credits and above): R9,531.54 per month (basic salary, no benefits).
  • For Undergraduates (enrolled students): R3,500.00 per month (basic salary, no benefits).
