CETA Lecturer Bursary 2025 South Africa. The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) offers an excellent opportunity for bursaries specifically aimed at supporting CET lecturers. The initiative seeks to empower between 20 and 50 lecturers teaching in fields related to Construction, Civil Engineering, and the Built Environment. These bursaries are part of a broader effort to improve the quality of education in these essential sectors by capacitating lecturers to meet both minimum and advanced educational requirements.

CETA Lecturer Bursary 2025

The CETA Bursary program aims to enhance the qualifications of lecturers in the construction and engineering fields. By offering financial support, CETA strives to align these educators with the advanced skills and competencies needed to teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects, construction, civil engineering, and other built environment disciplines. The program is designed to contribute to South Africa’s development objectives by creating a pool of highly qualified lecturers who can effectively teach the next generation of professionals in these critical sectors.

Eligible Studies for the CETA Bursary

Lecturers applying for the CETA Bursary 2025 are encouraged to pursue or continue their studies in the following disciplines, all of which align with CETA strategic goals:

  1. Advanced TVET Diploma
  2. Advanced Diploma / Honours in Education with a focus on construction, engineering, or built environment studies (NQF 7 or higher).
  3. STEM-related studies that advance knowledge in construction or engineering at the Honours, Masters, or PhD levels.
  4. Specializations in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Project Management, or other related qualifications.

These fields fall within the CETA Organizing Framework for Occupations (OFO) scope, ensuring that bursary recipients contribute to advancing South Africa’s construction and infrastructure sectors.

CETA Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CETA Bursary 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Lecturer in a CET College: The applicant must be currently employed as a lecturer at a CET College in one of the fields relevant to CETA mandate, including Construction, Engineering, or Built Environment studies.
  2. STEM and Construction Preference: Preference is given to those pursuing STEM qualifications and courses related to Construction and Built Environment studies.
  3. South African Citizenship: Applicants must be either South African citizens or naturalized citizens with permanent residency status.
  4. Working Age Requirement: Applicants must still be of working age, i.e., they should not have passed the typical retirement age and must have enough working years left to justify the bursary funding period.
  5. Higher Education Enrollment: The applicant must be either currently enrolled in a recognized Institution of Higher Learning or have an acceptance letter for studies commencing in the 2025 academic year.

Required Documentation for the CETA Bursary Application

When applying for the CETA CET Lecturer Bursary, applicants must provide the following documents:

  1. Proof of Employment: A document confirming that the applicant is employed by a CET College within South Africa.
  2. Certified Identity Document: A certified copy of the applicant ID, dated no older than six months.
  3. Proof of Registration or Acceptance: Documentation proving the applicant is either currently registered or has been accepted for studies in the 2025 academic year at an Institution of Higher Learning.
