New Government and Future Plans

Following the 29 May elections, a Government of National Unity (GNU) was formed, leading to the appointment of Minister Sisisi Tolashe as the new Minister of Social Development. Together with Deputy Minister Hendriks, they are tasked with securing funds to transition the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant into a Basic Income Grant (BIG) by 2026. However, the timeline remains uncertain due to the new political landscape.
